Stress has become the main cause of long-term sickness absence for the first time across British industry, according to a new study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD.

Dr Jill Miller, a CIPD adviser, said: "The survey this year shows that stress is for the first time the number one cause of long-term sickness absence, highlighting the heightened pressure many people feel under in the workplace as a result of the prolonged economic downturn.

Laughter Workshops

Scientific research has demonstrated that laughter can help to resolve workplace stress and many related issues.

The Beckman, Regier & Young, 2007 (USA) study looked at the effects of Laughter Yoga on personal efficacy in the workplace – the ability to organise and carry out courses of action to achieve a goal or manage a situation. Self-efficacy beliefs affect performance in the workplace. The results showed positive results in assertiveness, optimism, motivation, adaptability, self-regulation, self-actualisation, self-acceptance and self-awareness.

In everyday life there are opportunities to laugh, but on average, our laughter lasts for just 2.2 seconds. This is not enough to unleash laughter’s full potential. It is only when we laugh vigorously for a longer time - in a laughter workshop - that we can experience powerful physiological and biochemical changes.

A therapeutic laughter workshop is the only way to deliver laughter continuously to enable the physiological and biochemical changes to take place.

There are no jokes or scapegoats. Laughter sessions are safe and non-offensive. To find out more call me on 01228 818450 or email by clicking below:
